Frequently Asked Questions. If there any questions that you would like to ask us personally, please don't hesitate to contact us directly!

  • What should I check before I call for service?

First, check your thermostat to be sure it is properly set. (This may sound simple but many people have called to find out that the thermostat was set to "off"). Then check your circuit breaker to see if it has tripped (if so, the switch will be in the middle position: switch it to "off," then to "on"). Also, be sure to check your filter. A clogged filter can cause your air conditioner to freeze up, resulting in no cooling.

  • How often should I change my filter?

The manufacturers of heating and cooling equipment recommend every three months. This may be fine in many cases, but, with the increasing awareness of the effects of indoor air quality, many are now changing their filters monthly (especially businesses). There are some pleated high-efficiency filters that can can last up to one year between changes.

  • What do I need to do to take care of my system?

We recommend a seasonal tune-up of your system twice per year. A trained technician should go over your system to thoroughly clean it and to check the performance levels. Remember that an inefficient system is costly to operate. These inspections still need to be supported by regular filter changes as mentioned above.

  • At what temperature should my water heater be set?

It should be set at 120 degrees F.
